First let me say that I approached this book with trepidation, based on the reviews of certain economists, fearing that it would be a smug apologetic for mainstream economics. It is not a smug apologetic, it is an up-to-date, superbly well-written and entertaining survey of interesting recent trends in economics.

Perhaps the most important thing to know, if you want to be a good citizen, is some basic economics. This book is a good way to learn it.

The author seems to have difficulty reaching a conclusion and moving on. I doubt that I will be interested in reading other similar books.
